The Patrick Henry YMCA is seeking a full-time, personable and experienced Head Custodian to assist with cleaning and maintaining facility and grounds for the benefit of our members, program participants and employees. The Head Custodian position starts at $32,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.

DUTIES for the Head Custodian

This position will provide hands-on support to the YMCA facilities, including managing and responding to requests in our software system; collaborating with and managing contractors, cleaning crews and other service providers to ensure day-to-day cleanliness of the facility; upkeep of the fields and grounds; and ensuring that pool, plumbing, electricity and other systems are kept in working order.

QUALIFICATIONS for the Head Custodian

A High School diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two years related experience in building custodial, janitorial or housekeeping work is necessary. Must be highly motivated and possess an acute attention to detail. Must have knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work as well as the ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies. Able to carry out written and oral instructions. Must work in a cooperative manner with members, staff, and volunteers.  Communicates effectively with others. Some computer skills required to utilize maintenance and facility software program.

Candidates should have the ability to work a varied schedule as necessary, and be able to perform cleaning and light maintenance tasks.
