The YMCA of Greater Richmond is currently seeking part-time Counselors and part-time Assistant Teachers to work in our Student Success Centers which are located throughout the Greater Richmond Area. 

Duties of a Counselor:

Responsibilities include supervising and engaging with a group of school age children and participating in group programs. We are seeking incumbents with open/flexible availability Monday-Friday. All staff will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces according to site cleaning plan, will model safe social distancing, and wear masks daily.

Duties of an Assistant Teacher:

Assistant Teachers will work closely with certified teachers to implement academic enrichment programs to elementary or middle school students. Specific duties include supporting the development of relevant lessons; ensuring academic and social development of scholars; working with teachers to identify scholar needs and create instructional plans; monitoring scholars' progress and making recommendations for adjustments; working to create a safe and productive learning environment; maintain a safe, positive learning environment for students while they engage in virtual learning; and supervising scholars in day to day activities as well as special functions, such as field trips. All staff will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces according to site cleaning plan, will model safe social distancing, and wear masks daily.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a minimum of six months of child care experience, preferably in a licensed facility
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum age is 18

The following certifications are highly desirable:

  • CPR/AED Certification appropriate to age group
  • First Aid Certification
