The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a motivated, cause-driven Center Director to provide leadership to YMCA / Next Up youth development programs at Lucille Brown Middle School. Next Up is a community initiative working to ensure that Richmond Public School middle school students engage in meaningful out-of-school time programs designed to improve academic achievement; workforce readiness; and social, physical and emotional health. This position will work directly with Lucille Brown Middle School to implement programming.

The Center Director will oversee program planning and administration for YMCA / NextUp after school and summer enrichment programs, ensuring program quality and fidelity, and modeling and maintaining a positive center culture. In addition, the Director will:

1.    Build rapport with students, parents, school stakeholders, and community partners to enhance program. Facilitate and maintain positive communication with all stakeholders.

2.    Employ collaborative spirit to engage community partners in program.

3.    Work closely with school officials and others to support recruitment of students.

4.    Supervise on-site staff and volunteers, including hiring, training, scheduling, monitoring, evaluating, and providing feedback.

5.    Maintain site quality, including instruction, equipment and supplies.

6.    Oversee operating budget for center.

7.    Complete any required data collection or reporting in a timely and accurate manner.



Applicants should have a commitment to the YMCA and NextUp missions, and experience building relationships with diverse community stakeholders. Experience managing staff and volunteers is preferred. A bachelor's degree is required, in a related field preferred. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. At least three years' experience working directly with middle school youth in an educational setting is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as well as excellent organizational technology abilities are required.
